LaZer2: Domestic, Commercial and Swimming Pool Solar Hot Water Systems for the UK and Europe

Overview

The panels work as your primary heat source and your existing boiler or stove just tops up the water temperature when necessary. On sunny days the water in your cylinder can easily reach 70-80°C, so the boiler will not be used. On heavily overcast days, the water may only be 35°C (not quite bath temperature), so the boiler will run for a short time to raise the water to right temperature.

The system comprises of three main components:

  • LaZer2 Solar Panels
  • Plumbing & Control System
  • Solar Cylinder or Heat Exchanger

LaZer2 Solar Panels

The panels incorporate vacuum tubes that have a curved collecting surface. By fitting the panels with the tubes lying horizontally, a constant aperture area is presented to the sun. This automatically compensates for both differing roof pitches and variations in the sun’s angle, making the panels more effective than those systems with either vertically mounted tubes or those with flat collecting surfaces.

Our 93% efficient vacuum tubes work independently of the ambient air temperature and are therefore ideal for cooler climates such as Britain’s.

Solar energy penetrates the glass and is absorbed by the specially selected coating on the collecting surface. Unlike Heat-pipe systems, the water passing through our advanced internal manifold is heated directly so that there is no energy lost.

Plumbing & Control System

The system is designed to be self-regulating, with built in safety controls to give you full peace of mind for minimum effort.

Digital sensors compare the temperature of the water in the panel with that in your hot water cylinder. When the panel is 3°C warmer than the cylinder, the solar pump is automatically switched on and the water circulates through the sealed system. If the temperature difference is below 3°C the pump is turned off to stop the water in your cylinder being cooled.

Solar-cylinder or Heat Exchanger

The option we recommend depends on your hot water consumption, the condition of your current cylinder, and available space.

Our specially designed Solar-cylinders contain a primary Solar-coil (with twice the surface area of a regular one to allow more efficient heat transfer), and a secondary coil for your original heat source. They also have double the insulation of a conventional cylinder so that heat-loss is minimised.

The modern, highly efficient heat exchangers we use fit neatly onto the side of your cylinder. This option is recommended if a replacement cylinder is not required.
