SolarUK: Frequent Questions and Answers
Can you put solar energy systems on a flat roof?
The solar panels are usually mounted on a frame which sets the panels at the ideal angle and direction to collect the optimum solar energy.

Is there a Feed in Tariff for solar heating?
The Renewable Heat Incentive(RHI)is a way of paying installers of Microgenerating equipment for the amount of heat energy they generate.
Can you put solar energy systems on a flat roof?
Yes. Most commercial and large scale solar electric systems are installed on flat roofs.
Is SolarUK able to supply and fit systems in all parts of the UK?
SolarUK will supply and install solar energy solutions throughout the UK.
How do your prices compare with those of other solar thermal energy companies?
We aim to keep our costs as low and as fair as possible. We do not employ costly commission-based sales staff.
Can you provide estimates?
SolarUK provides a list of estimated costs associated with our solar energy systems. These costs might vary depending upon your particular installation but generally we try to keep as close to these as possible.
Do the vacuum tubes on the LaZer2 solar collector need cleaning?
No, the tubes are manufactured with extra-smooth, High-Borosilicate glass which will clean itself.
How many tonnes of carbon dioxide will my solar hot water system save?
The carbon dioxide saving will depend on the type of energy being displaced. For an oil-fuelled system the figure would be around 397kg of CO2 per year.
What about the effect of the ambient air temperature on the solar collectors?
Our more-than-93% efficient vacuum tubes are ideal for climates like those of the UK, as they are virtually unaffected by air temperature or wind chill, with no noticeable variation in performance whether the ambient temperature is 0°C or 30°C.
When it is cloudy will my solar system still work?
The design of our solar collectors means that they will collect solar energy (heat) whatever the weather. Of course, the greater the solar energy, the more there is to collect.
I live in the North of England, do I get enough sun for solar heating?
While there is more solar energy the further south you are, solar collectors on the Equator are normally mounted flat. There is certainly enough solar energy in the North of England to justify the use of solar water heating.
How durable are the solar panels? What about hailstorms?
Very durable. Our systems, when correctly installed by us or our approved installers, should withstand everything the British weather can throw at them!
